Question for designers

Hi all

I have been making a few cards today from recent CUP sheets. On most of the cards, I have used all of the original design, but on a couple of others I have cut off "bits".(to make them all look different)
So what I would like to know is this.........If I was to make a card using one of your designs, say for example it was a vase of flowers which is set on a coloured background or has a border, and I sent this in to CUP as a card makers entry, how would you feel if you saw only the vase of flowers, minus the background etc. But using a background or something that I had personally made. Such as, a different colour background, or placed on an embossed pattern, that type of thing. Would you be offended that I had made a change???
I love all the designers work, and really do use all of the original design, but occasionally I like to make a card look different to the last one I made.
Hope you all understand what I am trying to ask you!!
Regards
Sheila

Hi Sarah.
Thankyou for your reply, it is much appreciated. I have some of your sheets and think they are wonderful. I hope to get an album sorted out on the forum one of these days,so you will be able to see them yourself.

Hi Sheila, I wouldn't be offended either. Some of the carddmakers cards attached to my designs already have done that sort of thing. I think it's great to see the different and often ingenious ways of using my designs that you wonderful cardmakers come up with!!

Absolutely no problem here too. We only provide a sheet how we think it would work, but if you are able to create something totally different from it then that would be very nice to see. That's the beauty of crafting, we provide sheets and you cardmakers do whatever you want to create from it. It lets other customers see that a sheet doesn't have to be used as it is, but you canalso make something different from the same thing.

I wouldnt be offended either. Our designs are the foundations for the card but the cardmaker but its your creativity that makes the card.

Same for me - we provide ingredients - how the recipe is managed its down to individual creativity - that's what makes it so exciting - seeing what card makers do with the designs inspires me as well.
