could someone help please

Hello,
Could someone please tell me what is a crafter? I don't know where I should be asking this. I tried to go in the crafter introductions but it won't let me, am I not a crafter? I enjoy cross stitch and knitting and have started making cards, am I in the right place? I would be most grateful if someone could help me.

Hi

There are some features of this site a "newbie" doesn't have access to until they've posted 5 times - posted means either starting a new thread or replying to threads started by others. These features, I believe, include things like the "Private Messages", the ability to take part in the "Cup Chatbox" instant chatting system, the ability to creat your own albums/cateogories in the "Gallery", posting in other Craftforum areas that are visible to you, etc.

Now that you've made 5 posts you should find that you are able to do more in Craftforums.

There will, however, be some areas that you won't see, such as areas that are specifically for various categories of Designers, Registered Crafters, Affiliates, etc.

Enjoying making any crafts makes you a crafter as far as being a member of Craftforums is concerned. I do hope you'll have a look at the thread "Tutorial: Forum Gallery Albums", create your own albums/categories in the Gallery and upload photos of your creations for us all to see. Any crafting work can be displayed in the Craftforums Gallery, as well as other things such as holiday snaps, the snow, etc.

Craftforums is a sister site of the main site craftsUprint, and if you are a CUP customer you may also like to become a Registered Crafter who uploads photos of your work to the main site to be displayed with the digital file you used to make it (only one Registered Crafter can upload per digital design). There's also a thread called "What is a registered crafter and how does it work??" that you may also like to have a read of.

I'm not sure whether the ability to post to the "Crafter Introductions" becomes open to you as soon as you've made 5 posts, or whether you actually have to be a CUP Registered Crafter to do so. I do know that you need to become a Bronze Registered Crafter on CUP before you get the Registered Card Maker badge to go under your name by your posts on Craftforums.

Just keep browsing around the site, and reading and responding to posts, and you'll soon begin to feel more at home in our midst and become more familiar with how things work.

You've already introduced yourself in the Newbie Room and made a few follow on posts, so you are well on the way to becoming a seasoned forum member.

GG

Thank you so much Gwyneth Dear, yes I think things are a bit clearer now, although there is just so much to take in, and I'm not too good with computers you see.

Don't worry, Mrs Roberts. Just carry on and persevere; evreything will gradually fall into place. Probably without you realising at first and then you find that; "0h yes, I did that before and it came out alright!"
From then on it's plain sailing. Take the word of the "Technoprat!" John.:hahah a:

Thank you you are all very kind.

Please call me Eileen, I put my full name as I have never had to think of a username before, but it seems terribly formal now.

Eileen

Hi Susan. Lovely to hear from you. You are very welcome to take on the name of "Technoprat"!! Perhaps we should start another club here. We could call it: Technoprats United" or something like that. I am sure, absolutely positive, that we will get a lot of suggestions now for a name. Take care, Susan. all the very best to you and yours, John.
PS. I have to have it knocked in with an hammer!

Hi Eileen xx in answer to your question, yes you are a crafter xx I see Gwyneth has pointed you in the direction of some of my posts, a post is a reply, you'll find here on the forum that we're all very helpful honey, so any questions just ask, now, if you go to the Newbie Room section of the forum you can read my thread about Getting Started, a thread is a topic which people can reply to, now, in there I have given information just to help you find your way around, and, now that you have made 5 posts/replies there will be more things around the forum available to you, as for being a registered crafter, no one needs to do that now, ALL CuP customers now have the same facilities as the registered crafter, so, you will have a control panel etc on the main craftsuprint site xx having a read at my " What is a registered crafter " may help you understand how it all works, and of course, you may want to share your creations with us all here on the forum, so, have a look at my tutorial on Forum albums as we'd love to see what you are making, if you're in need of any help with creating your albums then let me know and I can fix that for you xx I have created albums for a few members now and the guys at CuP head office are happy to let me help people with any issues with albums, so, I'm your woman haha. Eileen, we were all new to computers once sweetie, you'll pick things up as you go along, and, as I said, ask for help if you need it ok xxx TC Diane xx (ps, TC means take care )

As a relative newbie I am glad this question was asked so thank you Eileen for asking. Also thank you to all the lovely helpful members who replied. I was about to ask a question that had been answered in this thread so now I don't need to ask. This is truly a wonderful group to belong to
