Gwyneth, thank you so much. That makes sense now, and I know which direction to go in. I'm going to follow your links now, and have a browse. I use the Crafters Comp. Spray and Shine occasionally, but like you say, the solvent smell is awful, and as I suffer from migraines, not a good idea too often. Now you've done it, mentioned something else that I'll have to ask you about. Rubber stamps-unmounted. Up to now I've mounted them on EZ mount, but I recently got two new ones, and queried whether to use ezm on them. The girl said she prefers not too, as she can see the image better (her stamps are almost clear) but it was upto me. When I first started stamping, I was told that I'd get a better image with some cushioning-i.e. EZ m or something similar, so that's what I've always done. What is your opinion? Or anyone else who wants to join in, and give away their hard earned knowledge Thanks again.

| Hi again Rosie
With Rubber stamps I too have been sticking them onto EZ, or similar, cushioned mount. The back of the mount, although not sticky does cling to acrylic blocks for stamping. Since getting some Rock-a-Blocks I haven't been mounting all my new stamps. I just give them a quick blast with Stick and Spray and put them on the Rock-a-Block or even straight on my acrylic block depending on the stamp size. After stamping I just stick them back onto a holding sheet until next time. You can't use the Rock-a-Blocks with mounted stamps or the rocker element woun't work as the stamps will be too thick.
With the clear, or nearly clear, stamps that are made of acrylic types material, rather than rubber, I never put these on mount. They usually naturally cling to acrylic blocks. The beauty of clear stamps is being able to see better exactly where you are stamping. These are my favourite type of stamps. If you find that you do need cushioning with stamps that are not mounted - do your stamping with your paper sitting on the back of a mouse mat. You still get the cushioning, this time below the paper instead of above the stamp, but you are not splashing out on a sheet of mount to put on each and every stamp you buy. Have a play around to find out what works best for you as different mouse mats have different densities and applying different pressure with stamps of different depths also makes a difference. GG

Hi Gwyneth
Great minds eh, that's exactly what I have been doing, using my old mouse mat, but EZ mount as well! These new stamps are almost clear, but they are rubber, when I first opened them I was all ready for ringing them, haven't come across them before, so I'll give them a try without. Would save an awful lot of time not to EZ mount, don't mind doing it, but if it's not necessary, then more time for other things! Thanks again for all your help, what a lovely forum this is |
