Matte, Semi-Gloss, Glossy

Which type of paper finish do you prefer for your decoupage cards and why?

Do you feel that you can get vivid enough colors on a matte finish paper?

Thank you in advance!!

I use a mixture of matt & glossy depending on whether I use card or photo paper. I usually print the designs on card and see what the colours look like. If they look too washed out then I'll used photo card. The only cards I have always used photo paper for are Valerie Dawes giant easel tableau & beau fronts cards.

I never use photo paper as I just do not like it and always use smooth white card

I don't really like the high gloss and mostly use matte but when I recently replaced my ink cartridges, during our conversation, the shop owner suggested trying a different paper other than Kodak and I am so delighted with the result as the colours jump out at me without the high glossy sheen. For any users in Australia, its by Qimage.

I use mostly card, but recently printed some things on both photo and card and the colors are definitely better on the photo. However, I do not like cutting out the decoupage pieces on photo, it may be just the thickness of the photo paper I have. I have not investigated other alternatives yet.

Don't you just love playing . I have been unable to print off stuff for days now because I am waiting for an ink cartridge to arrive. I am getting seriously twitchy - I am a woman on the edge

I tried glossy decoupage paper. didn't like it a all !!! I would use card by my printes wont feed card through, so I print onto mate photo paper, it suits me fine, and the results are great, plus I get my mate paper really cheap, 100 sheets for just over £2 !!!! bonus yippee TC Diane

I use all sorts in my printer. It depends on the look I am going after. But I prefer the glossy card and paper mostly.
