Thank you Claudette!

I don't score on both sides because I've always had good results from just scoring on the printed side.

I have also had this problem on all sorts & thicknesses of card/photopaper etc.Sometimes they are fine - other times the fold looks like a dog has chewed it !!
Until I got a Crafty Bob Bone Folder in a mag. I didn't know there were special tools to do the job so I used the open edge of a pair of scissors & lightly scored. When I have problems(as above) I just lay a metal ruler along the indicated line & bend against it..This way the card stretches itself gently to the place I want it.
Don't know if this will help. Gillie

GG, I have searched our office supply stores and craft stores and we use pound weight in the US. I have found 110 lb which I think is equivalent to 99 gsm....I can only buy the real heavy stuff via mail order. Yeah...most of the paper here are usually 60 lb weight which is WAY to flimsy in my opinion. Most craft stores cater to scrapbooking and if you want good card stock, it usually comes pre-cut. I like to use the full sheet because even with the scraps, I can cut out some images instead of throwing it away....

Aaahhhh....tried a better quality photo paper!!!!

So, I went out and bought some better quality photo paper....what a difference it made. I took all of your advise and scored lightly a few times as opposed to a hard score.....

someone mentioned about the proper way to score and fold...that the groove side is actually the outside fold, not the inside....I do that anyway....

But, what a difference...the paper folded beautifully and no problem....amazing how papers and card stock vary so much....

Thank you all for your help.....I think I am on my way to gorgeous cards with awesome score marks!!!! yiippeeee

Hi Claudette,

I print everything onto 255gsm glossy photo paper. I like the vibrant colours and the thickness of the paper. It is very easy to work with.

When I have a fold I first of all fold it by hand, squeezing the fold between my fingers, and then I place the fold between two sheets of normal paper and then I score with my bone folder. The normal paper protects the photo paper and no damage is done. If I want a valley fold I then fold the photo paper so that the wrong side is up and use the bone folder straight onto this side.

This works really well on 255gsm photo paper but if you are using a lighter weight then maybe try a little piece first to see how it goes.
