Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to become a card designer?

Pinky - there was a competition in one of my craft mags the other week and I wish I could remember which one it was. One of the ladies won a competition last year and became a designer with them.

If I find it and remember which one it was, then I'll post back again. Have a memory like a sieve just now.

There are loads of sellers on ebay with handmade cards, have seen very few with bids.
You could try ebid.co.uk another auction site, they dont charge listing fees, so unless an items sells, you pay nothing.
Other than that, the usual suggestions are, hairdressers, florists, small independant shops, farm shops or village fairs/craft fairs.

how to

have you tried sending off a letter or email with some pictures of your cards to the different magazines and ask them how you would go about becoming a designer.

How to become a desgner

This question was brought up on another forum. the suggestion was to go blog hopping as they can sometimes have a design call. I imagine that they mean the blogs of those who are desisners already which you could find out from the website of say Funky hand or from one of the many craft magazines that are out there, hope this helps xx Doreen

Hi everyone, I have just joined this forum, hope to get lots of craft advice, I have been making cards for several years, and am heavily into decoupage at the moment. Look forward to getting to know people on here. Poppy

Sorry I can't help with this other than to say I agree about the blogs, and just keep on trying :-) You could maybe try sending a card in to their member message pages they usually have at the start of the magazines, along with a letter explaining that you are trying to become a designer?

I would also suggest setting up a photobucket account (which is free) if you haven't done so, or by getting a website made, to show off your cards so that people know what you have done in the past and you can show that you can do variety and different techniques.
