Thankyou. I've never printed any digital design sheets before so I thought I had better check before I spend any money.

if the design is crisp and clear it should print on different mediums to suit the card you are doing, most of my designs i print on linen card because thats the medium i like to work withxxhetty

Hi
I like to experiment with different papers but ultimately go with a heavyweight card but then use one of my desert island tools, that I only discovered last year and that is crafters spray gloss, i find this gives a great shiny finish and protects your work.. fab, can't recommend it enough..

happy crafting

Hi, I like to use 120gsm paper if I'm going to attach the design to cardstock, this gives enough weight especially when doing decoupage.

Hi,

For decoupage sheets I like to use a lightweight (around 128 gsm gives a good result) good quality matte finish decoupage paper.

For the backgrounds have fun and experiment with the papers and cards you print onto. Try plain, pearlised, textured, parchment, tracing paper, thin card, textured card, fuzzy paper, inkjet printable shrink plastic, magnetic backed paper, printable cotton, silk and linen (these are backed with removable paper to allow you to print onto them).

In fact if your printer can take it then try it and mix and match the textures and backgrounds in your craft projects.

** Have fun! **

Thankyou everyone
I see I am spoilt for choice. I know ordinary copy paper doesn't give very good results and you guys know lots, so thought I would ask the experts.

Thanks again, fab help as always xx

I bought the supersmooth decoupage paper from c&c but to be honest the high quality inkjet paper, cant remember what supermarket you get it from, is really good for decoupage. It comes in a pack like a pack of copier paper but its in a plastic film covering not the paper kind that you usually get with copier paper. For pyramage I use 160gsm card for stability especially for larger pyramage and for quick cards or shaped cards I use the heaviest my printer will take currently 240 gsm although just ordered Epson P50 so hopefully this will take thicker.

Hiya

I always use quality photo paper, i use between 180-210 gsm, which when mounted to a cardblank gives shop bought thickness.

I use Epson 190gsm gloss (not overly glossy though) quality ink jet paper for 50 sheets it is £5.50 i think from www.photoglossy.com......i also found that ACE brand photo paper is fabulous quality and good colour results as is MIRROR brand, both very cheap and give good results. DO a search and they come in a variety of thickness and finnishes.

I have done alot of experimenting with paper and found the ones above give the best colour and print quality, always remember to adjust your printer settings to match the paper as this sometimes affects colour produced....

If you are printing on thicker paper and you get smudges, change your printer settings to thick paper in Advanced or maintenence and this will stop that....

I love Linen cardblanks but with some images and inkjet printers the print quality can be affected, which is why i stick with gloss or matt....

One more thing, i have an image that i use on a sympathy card and it is alot of black, although this prints great on photo paper at home, i think it is cheaper to get it printed at ASDA or Tesco / local photo developers at 20p a sheet (7x5inch) and then not only do you get fantatsic finnish but it doesn't get smudged when you are cutting and arranging....

Lol..bit of an essay there...
