It's useless !! I got munes free for subscribing to a magazine, thank goodness cos if I had paid for it I would have returned it, don't get me wrong, you can use it for scoring and embossing, that's great, but as for cutting card, not a hope, the cutting strip moves!!!! what the hell good is that??? I've bought embossing templates for it, will use it for that, but not much else really, waste of money as far as I'm concerned, but hey, you might like it TC Diane xx

Hi Lato

As Diane says, some things it isn't good for, others it is, so it depends entirely on what you hope to do with it whether you will get good use from it. It would probably help you if you could actually see it in action, or get your hands on one with an assortment of attachments, to try out a few things before buying. Some shops will allow you a closer look and a play, especially if they have one they use themselves, or perhaps there's a craft group in your area where a member already has one and would allow you a short play.

Mine sits in a corner as well, but that is mostly because I've got no room to have it out all the time, so mine comes out when I need it for something specific, and then quite often I'll try to do a batch of things while it's out.

Like Diane, I don't find the cutting system of any use as there's no clamp to hold the metal rule the cutting heads run along in place. Tried that a few times and decided it was more hastle than it was worth. There are some nice embossing boards to go with it, and having the plastic guide to put over the top to let you know where to emboss is handy, but many of the embossing boards that fit in it don't have the types of paterns I'd want to use.

I've got the pricking mat and grid with mine, and find that mostly I use it it for pricking as I can tape the paper in place, clamp the Helix, and do a little work. Because I can't do a lot in one go, the Helix allows me to just put it by the side of my bed and pick it back up again as I feel able, and carry on like that until I've finished, and I know that nothing will have moved.

If I remember rightly I got mine via an eBay auction. Cheaper than buying from anywhere else at the time, although I did pick up a few bits to go with it from online shops.

I have one too but like everyone else its on the floor collecting dust. I want to invest in an ultimate pro from Crafter's Companion but they're not cheap. I don't have a scoring board and I know that is the top dog of scoring boards.

I saw the heading of this post and wondered what on earth a Helix craft room is!!!
We have Helix clubs here...usually in schools and they are all to do with science..

So of course I had to look at that link.
Interesting.....one would have to ask why they are normally £106.90 and they are trying to sell them now for £25.79....thats a huge discount!!

But then after reading the replies here I'm guessing why
