Embossing

Dry embossing - ie without all the heat and powders. I've got a craft robo for cutting stuff but would like to do some embossing.

Does anyone have a favourite machine for this? Or do you prefer embossing by hand with brass stencils? I'm mainly thinking of embossing backgrounds more than individual items. What is the largest size paper you can use in the big shot express?

Depending on the effect I'm after, I either do it by hand with a stencil or use my CuttleBug and folders I have for it. I have some of the CB folders, but I also have plates from Sizzix that work great in it as well.

Hi Ruth.

Don't have an embossing machine so any embossing I do is currently done by hand. One day, who knows!

Not sure about the Big Shot sizes - as far as I can tell the size of the standard plates is 8 3/4" x 6 1/8", but I've seen the Spellbinders Grand Calibur demonstrated on TV and that has plates big enough for an A4 sheet of card or paper. Of course the Big Shot Express is electric motor driven but the Grand Calibur is hand cranked.

Have you tried to do an Internet search to see what information is on the Sizzix and Spellbinders websites?
