I thought I'd missed out....

...on a whole heap of possibilities when I realised that the new Silhouette Cameo would cut 300gms and my Studio SD would only just cut 210gms. I wanted to be able to cut heavier card but there is no way I could justify buying a new machine. Now I've bought the new replacement blade I've managed to cut 300gms card like a knife through butter. The instructions say don't go above three for the SD but I've cranked it up to 5 for the heavier card.

The only thing I've noticed with the thicker card is that you need to leave a bigger margin around the edge of the page so the rollers don't go over the edge. If it does the card will jam up and not cut properly. I imagine if you do that enough times you will wreck the machine!!

Interestingly the web site I bought it from stated that it would only fit the cameo, although it arrived with a big sticker on the front of the package giving the number equivalents for the coloured caps.

How sad am I that this was the highlight of my day.....

Be very careful Ann I take it your using your older machine? Graphtec have said by using this blade and the pressure in the older machines it burns out the motors by using the pressure set for the cameo or thicker cutting machines..... you will have no come back and the company you purchased from if not Graphtec will NOT repair your machine... It may cost you dearlu..

I was gifted the Cameo as I design for GraphtecUK and I have to say I have had no problems with my machine at all and I have cut 400 gsm card on it from my intricate designs.

Thanks for that Tina, I do intend to be very careful but it will come in handy now and again.

The card I brought ages ago Angela so couldn't tell you what name it is all I know is it's 400 gsm and thick... I have never as yet taken my blade setting above 4 and have never altered the settings the machine gives you the card is also embossed so very fibrous in places..
