What is the best cutting machine?

Can anyone help Catherine

'Can you please advise me as to which is the best machine for using these files. The cards are beautiful and I would love to try them. I have an original cricket machine but I dont think this can be used with these files. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou Catherine'

I'm not sure that there is a 'best' one as such - they all do much the same thing but with different file formats (that's probably the most confusing part) and I should think if you ask enough people they could all make different recommendations. My purchase was simply based on cost. I have a Silhouette SD and I am very comfortable with it now but it was quite a steep learning curve though!! I don't know enough about other machines to be able to make a constructive comparison. I was totally hooked after about two days of using mine, despite the swearing and cursing!!

Good luck, once you get going you won't regret it

The older SD's and thee CraftROBO are no longer available to purchase unless someone is holding old stock..

The Cameo has taken the place of that which is brilliant piece of kit but obviously personal choice is also a consideration, and of course Money to pay for it.. You may be able to purchase the smaller machines from Ebay or someone that holds any old stock..

There is also a new knk machine called the Zing which is also great....

You can use the cricut with SVG files if you have the older style software before updating either scal or MTC but both these up to date softwares no longer work on the cricut

Good Luck with your decision

I can't answer this either as I have not owned one until yesterday. I got a cricut for Christmas. Yay! Can't wait to learn how to use it. ♥

You should be fine Julene The Cricut only runs on Cartridges now as they stopped you using the mtc or scal... so all new machines would be upgraded not to use the extra software

I think that one must remember that with the Robo you don't need cartridges! You can download all the cutting files from CUP! It is definitely a steep learning curve though, for a "Technoprat" like myself. John.

I also bought the Silhouette Cameo & it's my first cutting machine & I think it's great especially as you can design your own stuff too.

I have owned 2 Wishblades, a large commercial machine, a gazelle and I now have the Cameo. I sold all the other machines after using the Cameo for a couple of months. I had the wishblade for print & cuts and the gazelle for 12 inch cutting area. The Cameo combines both those features and does print & cuts extremely well. Love it.
