Craft Robo Cameo

Hi, i'm a newbie on here and I have just ordered my craft robo cameo and was wondering which files I can use with it?

I know i'm being impatient, should really wait till it arrives and then have a play, but there are so many lovely items around that I want to try some of them.

Also any tips from people who own one will be gratefully received. A big purchase for me, yet I can't wait!!

My main thing is that I make bunting which I sell on ebay which is a hello kitty font and I will be using it to cut these out, it's a bit of a nightmare butting it out by hand and that is the reason for the purchase.

Thank you in advance
Catherine xx

Hi Catherine

The Cameo ships with the Silhouette Studio software so you'll have no problems with the Silhouette Studio Files available on the main craftsUprint site - here. The software also opens GSD files. I'm saving for a Cameo to upgrade from my CraftROBO 330 so I'm very jealous of anybody who's already got it, or got it on the way.

In addition to Silhouette studio and gsd files, you can use svg files. I love my cameo. Just sold my WiIshblade and will list my Gazelle on eBay soon! Happy cutting!

The standard software included with the machine won't open svg without using additional software to adapt it. You can use the free program inkscape to convert an svg into a different format but to open without doing any additional work you would need to upgrade to the designer version software which is about £25ish.

You can't use the svg's on the cameo Rae unless you have the designer edition of studio...

You can either get it through your studio software - I think you access it through your account page ( I remember seeing an upgrade button somewhere but I can't check exactly where because I now have it!) - or you can get it from somewhere like this There are probably other places offering as well if you do a google search

Its worth checking the $$ - ££ exchange before you decide where to get it from.

If you install the Silhouette Studio software, then click on "Help", you will see an option to "Upgrade to Silhouette Studio Designer Edition". Don't know how the upgrade works from there as I'm not thinking of upgrading just yet. Graphtec GB also have the upgrade on their site - here.

all you Cameo people out there , perhaps you can help - a customer asked me if can use my gsd files on cameo which, as they can be opened in silhouette studio you can, but when was testing files customer was interested in by opening in studio just to be sure, was looking for option to change cutter (from my CC330 Craft Robo to Cameo) and I couldn't find it - when I get my Cameo will I be able to use my Cameo and my CC330 Craft Robo at same time in Silhouette Studio ie swip and swap between cutters like can with Robomaster software as can't find an option for that in Silhouette Studio (wanted to see how my gsd A4 design translated onto larger mat and couldn't as couldn't find option to change cutter, or is it just because I don't have Cameo drivers loaded as don't actually physically have a Cameo yet - Gwyneth.. anyone
