Help with my Robo Lite!

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help restore my faith.....I saw the robo lite on a craft channel and was completely sucked into it, my husband bought it for my 40th birthday almost 2 yrs ago, all I've managed to do is cut letters on it, due to it won't cut card, only thickish paper. The reason for my disheartening mood is when I research on the internet what other people are doing they have made some gorgeous cards and I can't get card to cut...am I doing something wrong.....please help

Hi craftychris, I've had my Robo Lite for just over 2years now and have managed to cut lots of designs using it. It does depend on what kind of card you're trying to use, as the Robo doesn't like card that is too fibrous.
I mostly use Conqueror concept card with mine and always get a good clean cut.
There's new software for the Robo which is free, called Silhouette studio and also a new blade/holder hopefully with the combination of both of these you may get your Robo to cut a bit quicker and better.
The best way to test the card you're trying to cut is to do a test cut first before cutting out the whole design and wasting card.
With mine I used to always use the pink cap with full speed and thickness set at 33, which is a bit naughty but it always cut the card, but please don't use these setting for paper.
Hope this helps a little, just shout out if you need more help, as there's a few of us with these machines on here.

Hi Craftychris

The CraftROBO Lite as well as the CraftROBO SD or Silhouette were technically only suppose to cut upto around 160gms, which is fine for layers and shapes, but not for base cards or boxes. Mind you, most of us put heavier weight cardstock through with no problems, but it was fussy as far as card type is concerned, so experimentation is called for. As has already been said, fibrous cardstock wasn't good, neither is cardstock with a chalkey core as that blunts the blade quickly.

If you upgade your software and use Silhouette Studio you will have an option to "Double Cut". (I believe it will work with the CraftROBO Lite. If not I'm sure somebody will step in to let us know. It certainly worked with the CraftROBO 330-20 which I have in addition to the Cameo I've upgraded to because it has a stronger motor and so will cut heavier weight cardstock.) This will allow you to cut up to medium weight cardstock rather than "thickish paper" or lightweight card. The new style blade does allow the blade to be put quite deep, but it is advised that it should never be set to the deepest settings on the CraftROBO Lite as its motor isn't strong enough.

Have fun experimenting.
