I have a bow maker, made long before the days of the Glitter Girls. It is just a strip of wood with four nails bashed into it at intervals of an inch or so. The nail heads have to be at the bottom. I wanted it for making bows from 2 and 4mm silk ribbon, so use the first two nails, but larger bows can be made by using the wider apart nails.
I've also made tassels using the first and third nails. I wound the cotton around the nails, then wound more cotton near the end of one nail, fastened that off, removed the entire thing, then trimmed it at one end. Easy peasy.
These bow makers can be any length, and the height of the nails can be varied, so one could have really huge bows, or as in my case, teeny ones. You should see just how teeny the 2mm silk ribbon bows are, ideal for 1/24th scale items as well as the 12th scale I use them for.
