Question Antenna

Hi All,

I am cutting out butterflies and I am having problems with the antennas, does anyone have any suggestion on how this can be achieved without cutting them off. Butterflies are part of a pop-up card that I'm trying out...

You could try attaching very thin wire for the antenae. Curling the ends look good too. It's just a suggestion.

You can also buy a packet of black or yellow staymens, not spelt that right. I mean flower centres. They look brill as they have a nobble on the end. Depends if you want to spend that little bit extra

That would be a good idea.

Have you tried the very thin elasticky gold string (used for attaching gift tags to items..not sure of real name lol) i cut a piece of, fold in half attach to card with ds tape at the fold bit then stick the butterfly over this, the string gives a little more natural movement and is available in tons of colours, plus you can use it for wrapping pressies as well

When I have to cut out something very thin like the antenae of bugs I put a piece of cello tape on the back before I start cutting. This reinforces the paper so you can cut that small.

If you buy the stamens I would get the finest you can, obviously depends on the size of butterflies, and I would only buy white as you can colour them with your promarkers/copics/flexmarkers to match your colours. Just fold them in half and stick to the back of the body. You can get then in cake decorating shops, but not as many as you used to be able to get or maybe a flower shop.

Thanks Joanna. The flower stamens sounds great; where can one get them?
I went into a kitchen utensils shop in Norwich the other day and found that they have some long thin wires of various colours, fifty for £2.80. they are lovely irredescent coluours. They are for stems for artificial flowers.
I have bought a pack and intend trying them out after Christmas, when have got all my Christmas cards done and off my hands.
PS. the wires are 24 gauge and about 18" long.:ha haha:
