Thumbs up Cheap mirri card

I thought I'd share this with you all, we all know how expensive our hobby can be, so, if there's a bargain I'm gonna let you in on it !! I have been using a seller on ebay for my mirri card, it's free P&P and despatch is super fast, I ordered yesterday and got the card today !!! for a pack of 20 sheets it's £5.50,I think, now, compared to how much it is in craft shops I reckkon that's a big saving, and the quality is great, they do other craft items too, here's the link

www.mycrafttoyou.co.uk

tell them I sent you xxx I've never been disappointed yet and I've purchased from them a few times now xxx TC Diane xx

Thanks Diane - mirri card is a store cupboard essential in everyone's crafty stash and I use it on nearly every card I make. I do buy a lot from C&C especially when they have great offers on which they have had recently. I bought 50 x embossed and linen gold and silver cardstock for £5.50 and 50 x Christmas mirri card for just over £7.00. I know a lot of people don't like C&C for their p&p but they are a lot cheaper than QVC. Thanks Diane.

White Card

Thanks for the tip Dianne. Am getting short of mirri - how did you know. Perhaps you could tell me where to get a nice white card of a suitable weight for card making. I have tried all sorts but never really know what weight to go for and where I can get a reasonable size pack. 10s dont go anywhere do they. Katie

No problem folks xx Katie, have you tried papermill direct ?? 75 sheets for a fiver then of course postage on top, if you go with card around 240gsm it should be suitable for making card blanks xx and, of course, they also do lots of other colours xx If I find anywhere cheaper, or if anyone else does, then pop it in here, let's make this bargain corner haha xx TC Diane xx

If you are in the US, you can also get mirri card (12x12 sheets) from Oriental Trading Company. They have expanded now and have quite an extensive scrapbook/cardmaking section.

Sorry to be a dope - but what IS mirri card???

I'm guessing that it's a trans-Atlantic term for glossy cardboard.
If that's the case - I buy mine in sheets(20.5 x 20 inches) at the local newsagents for $2 each ( about 1 pound British) then cut them down to A4(that's 5 x A4 lots).
Of course,if I lived on the coast I could get them a lot cheaper!!!

Dianne and Gillian

Yes Gillian , Mirri card is another name for glossy card but it really is quite like a mirror quite different to some of the other glossy cards. Thanks for your reminder about Papermill Direct Dianne. I used to enjoy going to the 'local' shop but haven't really thought about looking at them on line for ages. That's a job for after lunch. Thanks too for the tip about the weight of card. I should really know that by now but there you go.Katie

Mirri card is a shortened term for Mirror Card - the kind of cardstock that has a metalic, foil finish on top. The most popular are Gold Mirror Card or Silver Mirror Card. The Christmas Mirror Cardstock usually has metalic Red and Green in the pack with Gold and Silver. The gold and silver ones tend to be cheaper because they are the most commonly used and are therefore produced in larger quantities. Have a look - here - here - and - here - to see what we mean.
