| Embellishments for male cards
Can anyone give me any ideas as to how to embellish cards for the male of the species please?
I don't think flowers or gems would work . I've got twin nephews and I'm making their birthday cards but I'm not sure what to embellish it with, if anything?
Many thanks |

I usually vote for "if anything". LOL Sorry, I'm not much help. If you can find a way to embellish with cash or candy then I think you might have a winner.

Brads are good for men's cards to embellish them. Or possibly a matching die cut sticker. And natural type of fibers instead of ribbons.

| I was thinking of buttons too. Great minds ......
How about string - wound into a pinwheel? It would have to be fairly fine string, not a thick one otherwise there would not be too many circles to the wheel!

I just had one of my cards made up and the cardmaker embellished with a shirt and tie HERE
I'm assuming they were embellishments brought 'as is' but if you had bits of paper/board I reckon you could make your own too.
Brads, buttons, sports items, transportation, even steampunk cogs etc I think would be suitable.

I think what you use to embelish depends on the main image/theme of the card. Some cards just need some matting and layering behind the main image to frame it, whereas others are just calling out for extra embelishment.
I've used ribbons on cards for men, mostly navy blue and brown. Using knots rather than bows. Twine, such as gardeners twine on cards that have something to do with gardens, or even ordinary household twine, which can be coloured by inks to match the main card colours. I've used brads, including ones with navy or deep purple central gems, which look like cufflinks on shirt and tie cards. If the cards are for young boys then images of baloons, or peeloff stars are also good as embelishments. GG

Depending on their interests, for teenage boys - motorbkes, flashy cars; for older men, chess pieces, dart boards, and always flashy cars.
