| A question ??
Could I just ask how you all store your craft sheets on your pc, I,m afraid to run out of room on it as it is an old pc, I,m also afraid to put them on disc ( the older sheets ) in case they wont work.
Any advice would be great.
Hugs,
Mary x

HI Mary xx on my PC I have a folder just for CuP sheets, in that folder are a huge number of sub folders where I organise my sheets into different categories, ie, kids, female, xmas etc and all of these are backed up onto an external hard drive, they are pretty cheap to get a hold of now and so easy to use, putting your sheets on CD shouldn't stop them working honey, I have sheets backed onto CDs too and they've never been a problem, I would definitely advise an external hard drive though, you just plug them into to a USB on your PC and they pretty much do all the work for you, in fact, the 1 I have lets me know how many new files there are to be backed up to the external. Hope that helps honey xxx TC Diane xx

No trouble honey xx I got mines from Maplin, think it's a 250 gig which is more than enough for all my stuff, at the time I bought it I think it was around £30, that was over a year ago now, it's a good idea to back up everything that's important to you, your sheets, pics etc, I've had a few PCs die on me and I've had to wipe them and re-install everything, lost so many pics etc in the past so I now make sure everything is backed up glad to have helped honey TC Diane xx

Mary,
If you've not a lot of space can I suggest a portable external hard drive. I got a half a tera-byte (500Gb) for £50 about a year ago. It's about the size of an iphone so great to store & just plugs in with a USB & because I work with a laptop all the time I don't have a computer desk so it's brill to be able to put it in a drawer when I don't need it.

Hi Mary,
I use an external hard drive as well, in fact I have two going. I transfer onto both of them in case something happens to either one! I try and be organised and have them in sub folders but I still get in a mess with them.

Hi Mary
If you are in the position that your computer storage space is used up and you need to move some of your digital files off, then you need to be thinking about two storage mediums - one external medium to transfer your files and documents to off your PC to allow for room on your PC to work better while allowing you easy access to them, and the other external medium to act as a backup of everything that will be left on your computer and everything on your main external medium. Just having one external backup drive as a backup of your computer's content won't help release space on your computer unless you move the content over rather than making a backup copy. And moving content over will still leave you with only one copy, and with an older computer you should have a backup solution of everything in place. GG

Mary, I was wondering, have you ever done a defrag on your PC?? after you've got all your stuff backed up trying giving your PC a defrag, you'd be surprised how much space you can create by doing this, and also a disc clean, a defrag will sort out storage space on your PC and move it around to create more space by shifting stuff closer to other files, there will be a fair amount of storage space which isn't used as it could well be cramped with files all around it, and, a disc clean will give you the oppportunity to remove old files which are no longer needed and will clean up any temporary imternet files too, to find these on your PC click on the start menu, then all programmes, then up to accessories, then system tools, you'll find both the defrag and disc clean tools there, a defrag may take quite some time depending on how much of your hard drive is needing to be moved around, so best to leave the PC to do that overninght, the disc clean normally only take around 5-10 minutes, but this will depend on when you last did a disc clean. Doing this with your PC should keep it running along just fine and dandy, the PC I have was a freebie from a freecycle sight, all it needded was a hard drive, key board, mouse and monitor, I've been running it for 3 years now, and, touch wood, it hasn't let me down yet Let us know how you get on TC Diane xx
