Kiwi crafters

I haven't notice too many other New Zealander's here, are you here hiding, or are we a minority lol (I'm guessing this is the case).
If you're out there, just wondering if you know of any craft markets (not Craft World... too expensive) in Auckland that don't already sell cards?
I know a few but they already have cards, and I get sick of searching the net I get too many random answers!
Or am I talking to myself lol
If you're out there let me know!

I don't live in New Zealand (I'm in Spain) but the situation is about the same here. No craft fairs at all!!!! We have to manage with boxes in Hairdressers, Bars, Sweetie Shops/Card Shops, Car Boot Sales (not very successful) and English Clubs and Associations. Why don't you try some of these in NZ? Do you have Ladies Clubs (and Men's clubs ... they still need to buy cards for their wives), Scout Organisations, etc? Anywhere where lots of people gather, say once a week. Even Old Age Pensioner Clubs (they sometimes have Bingo sessions where lots of people turn up). Retirememnt Homes are also a good idea as some of these people cant get out to go shopping and welcome this service. You could offer them a percentage of the sales so that they could buy themselves treats (such as a box of chocs to share amongst the residents). Same goes to bars, hairdressers, etc etc.

Make sure that you keep in contact with these outlets that have boxes (say once a month and always take replacements with you when you go to collect the takings.

I have boxes with at least 2 each of the rarer cards, i.e. Thank You, Sympathy, Good Luck and about 4 of each of the other kinds, Ladies Birthdays, Mens, Children, Babies, Wedding, Anniversary etc etc.

Anyway, I hope the above is of some help to you and good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi Lorraine

I don't get out much so I hardly ever see the free papers. Must see if I can find some. Still not got the car repaired .. waiting for a part from Holland, so won't be able to do any fairs that are not in walking distance at the moment, but thanks for letting me know.

TC

Fabulous ideas Joan! I especially like the Retirement Home idea... in fact I could sell my cards (we have a Disability home around the corner from me as well), and ask them if they want a pianist (me) and hey they might even offer to pay me (even tho I'd do it for free)!
You've got my brain ticking with ideas now!
Thanks Joan!

Good luck with the disability home for selling your cards and also with the piano playing. The inmates would love a sing a long. If you do get "hired" don't forget to take along some printed song sheets to help them with the words when they join in with the singing.

On another note. HOW DO YOU ADD SMILEY FACES WHEN YOU REPLY TO POSTS???? I can't find anywhere to get them from.

Thanks for that Joan! When I post I click the 'Post Reply' button down left hand side of your screen, and it brings up the 'Reply To Thread' screen and to your right is a box of smiley faces hope you find them!
