I don't live in New Zealand (I'm in Spain) but the situation is about the same here. No craft fairs at all!!!! We have to manage with boxes in Hairdressers, Bars, Sweetie Shops/Card Shops, Car Boot Sales (not very successful) and English Clubs and Associations. Why don't you try some of these in NZ? Do you have Ladies Clubs (and Men's clubs ... they still need to buy cards for their wives), Scout Organisations, etc? Anywhere where lots of people gather, say once a week. Even Old Age Pensioner Clubs (they sometimes have Bingo sessions where lots of people turn up). Retirememnt Homes are also a good idea as some of these people cant get out to go shopping and welcome this service. You could offer them a percentage of the sales so that they could buy themselves treats (such as a box of chocs to share amongst the residents). Same goes to bars, hairdressers, etc etc.
Make sure that you keep in contact with these outlets that have boxes (say once a month and always take replacements with you when you go to collect the takings.
I have boxes with at least 2 each of the rarer cards, i.e. Thank You, Sympathy, Good Luck and about 4 of each of the other kinds, Ladies Birthdays, Mens, Children, Babies, Wedding, Anniversary etc etc.
Anyway, I hope the above is of some help to you and good luck with whatever you decide to do.
