Question Has anyone used Mica before?

I was watching Crate & Craft the other day and they had a product called Mica (I think) that they were selling, it looked really good but I was wondering if anyone has used it before and, if so, is it any good?

It comes in little pots and is a powder, like loose eye shadow, and you brush it onto cards and it makes it go all shimmery.

It seems to be quite expensive, so does anybody know if it is worth the money?

Or where I can get it that isnt C&C as their postage charges are extortionate.

Thanks, Sarah

Sarah, I know what you mean by 'extortionate postage fees!
Actually, the really shiny eyeshadows from the cheap stores work beautifully on cards...fixed with....really cheap hairspray and applied with q.tips!

That is what I use! The cheap eyeshadows have mica in them! I wanted to buy some of the Pearl Chalks, but when I saw the price, I went for more Eyeshadows! A quick spray with a very cheap aerosol hairspray and it won't come off either.

Brilliant - thank you!

To carry on this thread, I would like to know what the difference is between the following - if any, all replies greatly appreciated;
Mica pigments
Cosmic shimmer Mists (isn't this just mica pigments in spray bottle with water that you can make up yourself from the pigments?)
Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Paints
Cosmic Shimmer Twinkles
H20s
2 Tone Stains

Thanks in advance and Happy Crafting

Hi FSpirit - there is not a lot of difference in any of the products you mention. They all contain mica in different amounts. They are different brands of the same idea. Basically a mica powder, either already in a liquid or one that you have to apply liquid to. You can use them in the same ways - with perhaps the H20 which is more of a paint. Hope that helps.
