Hi June. It's on my list of things to do this year. Have started collecting some ideas and tools, but illness, and an escalation of my disabilites mean I haven't really got into it yet. I'm hopeing I'll be able to do some as, from what I've seen and read, a light touch and patience gives better results, so I'll have to see if I can manage to do the intricate work once I'm better.

I hope you manage to put a few pictures of what you've done up in an album for us all to see, as I'd love to see what another newbie can achieve as inspiration.

Hi Jan

You don`t need to spend alot of money getting started.
A couple of sheets of funky foam will work for embossing and 4-5 together will work for a perforating mat. You can get a pack of embossing tools (usually 2 or 3 wooden handled double ended) will cost you less than £5. A pricking tool, a white leaded pencil (ordinary white colouring pencil will do), a rubber and some parchment paper.

Hope that helps

I am a parcher too, once you have mastered the basics it really is a matter of concentrating on what you are doing because mistakes seem to be magnified in Parchment work. It is something that you cannot hurry, you need patience and lots of it.

I love parchment craft and I even took some on holiday with me I packed up all my tools in hand luggage with scissors patterns etc, and then wandered though into the departure lounge, my bag went though the xray machines and they didn't notice all the needles on the end of the tools and the bag passed, not so my computer bag when a wash bag had been put and they confiscated shaving foam and shampoo. I cannot see the logic in it.
