| Craft Robo Help
Hello
Does anyone have a craft robo? I've just purchased one (yesterday in fact!) and I'd like to know HOW I get it to cut my pre-printed decoupage sheets that I have? Or is there a you tube clip where I can see it in action?

| Hi Ruth
I too have a Craft Robo ( the CC330 that has the Print & Cut function, not the lite which only cuts) and love what I can do with it, but I wasn't aware that it could be used to cut out Pre-Printed Decoupage sheets. I thought that decoupage sheets needed to be printed out from within the Robo Master software, after the cut lines had been put in place, so that the software can print guide marks onto the sheets that the Craft Robo's eye reads so that it cuts in the right place. So if somebody does know of a way to do it I'd be interested as well. GG

I have had one for a couple of years but am ashamed to say don't use it much. I have managed to cut out some nestabilities and I'm OK at words for Scrapbooking. I bought a sheet off CUP but haven't worked out how to cut it out yet! Must have another try. Hope you have fun and use yours more than me.

It might work if you print the sheet out and scan it in again as if it were a new document then can you not put in your registration marks at that point.
I use my robo with a mac and illustrator and the way it works is that I draw my image in one layer, place my registration marks which appear in another layer then draw the outlines for cutting which are placed in another layer, so I have 3 layers. You can then turn off the layer for the outlines and just print picture and registration marks. When cutting all you need showing is the cutting layer and bob's your uncle.

I took "pre-printed decoupage sheets" to mean sheets that are bought in already printed when I replied the first time. Did I missunderstand that?
While scanning in and importing into Craft Robo software and putting in the cutting line and marks before re-printing is technically possible, there are legal issues with doing this.
If you've bought the decoupage as a digital file, that you can print out time and time again yourself, then it doesn't matter whether you print and cut with a scissors, craft knife, or a Craft Robo, so you could just import the digital file into the software, mark out the cutting line, print out, and then put into the Craft Robo to cut. But if you've bought "pre-printed decoupage sheets" then you are not allowed to scan it and print it out again because of copyright issues. At least that's always been my understanding of the rules of pre-printed material. GG

You can import a jpeg of your decoupage and print and cut but this must only be for personal use.. You will also need to add the cutlines oe in robo .
Having had my robo since they were first released there is a zillion things you can do with it.. but some obviously for personal use due to the copyright issues.......

So for my own sheets which i have on my system which i have designed (so no worries about copyrights) i can take them into the craft robo software, then i have to show it i guess where i want it to cut and then print and then feed it through the robo and it cuts out.....
Is it easy to tell it where to cut or does it have to be pretty solid lines? If they were white flowers on white paper would it have problems seing the lines where to cut (like making a transparent layer, sometimes it can't see the lines easily)
Hells......

Hi Helen
Any of your own designs would be an excellent place to start off with. And once you've created the Print & Cut files out of them you could be selling those on CUP as well.
There are some tutorials on You Tube from the Graphtec company. This one gives basic instructions on setting up Print & Cut.
Another thing I've had fun with is "welding" text and cutting it out of sticky back material. I've made large sticky names to personalise cards this way as well as greetings peeloffs when I'd run out of a specific one I wanted - see for how to do this.
Have a good look on the CraftROBO website as well as on You Tube for ideas and guides. GG
