Craft Robo

Hiya

Well i have my Craft robo for a couple of days, i love it, i have managed to cut rectangles, circles, even my graphics used with the 'spline tool' as i found that the get outline tool made scraggly lines on some of the images.....

Now....some of the sheets (jpeg) i try and bring in it says file not supported? Yet it will bring in others, has anyone had this problem b4?

I have been in the gsd section already lol and have got a few to play with, loved the way it cut out tiny tiny things....

Also...are these accurate:

Blue blade holder: upto 100gsm
Yellow : upto 170gsm
Red : upto 220gsm

I have found the best results for cutting on 250gsm textured create and craft gold cardstock....

Any tips will be most appreciated, i find the software ok to use, but everyone is right there instructions are pants, the tutorials i have found have been better

Hells

Hi Helen.

Not sure about the caps as they are rated for depth of cut, not weight of paper, so the blue cap is rated for a cutting depth of 0.1mm, the yellow cap for 0.2mm, and the red cap for 0.3mm. Which roughly means the blue cap is for thin vinyl and paper, yellow cap is for light card, and red cap is for heavier weight card. Sometimes a heavier weight paper is compressed toa tight finish and is therefore not as deep as a lighter weight paper, so quaility plays a part in things as well. Using the test cut feature does help if you are not sure, as sometimes the cap is right but the setting needs to be changed a bit. For anything other than CraftROBO recognised paper/card/vinyl which comes with details of cap, speed, etc., writen on the packs it can be a bit hit and miss until you get things right for your favourite paper and card.

Have fun playing with your new (toy) essential piece of equipment.

GG

I never use anything but my pink cap and adjust the pressure but then I am lazy

It won't cut fibrous card Helen so any card you have brought from the papermill is not good.. try wilkinsons the mirri card is fab to cut and it's 200 gsm.. also conqueror concept is beautiful card to cut but expensive to waste.. I am sure you will get on fine.. few learning curves

We have a lovely section on UK Scrappers I sponsor the website... it's got free gsd to download for personal use only obviously but a good range and plenty of tutorials to help you out.

Mine is wierd it recognises and opens some files when i Insert them....

But then others it says File is not supported....

So i turned it into a tiff and when i inserted it worked....strange, but i will be trying more of the jpegs i couldn't get it too insert now and turning them into tiffs....

Once i have got them into the software i save them as a gsd so i can open them as 'touch wood' i haven't had an issue with gsd files...

I was amazed at what it cut out for me yesterday, i would never have been able to cut that out in a million years...very impressed so far and i have only had it a few days.

Next on my list will be the A3 version ;-) Better start saving!!

There are two types of jpegs Helen and if one is not supported re opn it in paint or what ever and resave as jpeg...Mine won't except tiff's

I now have the craftROBO pro too..Means everything I design can be big
