Red face my eldest son is going away!!

Hi all,

My eldest son who is 9 is going away with his school for their first residential stay on Monday for 3 days and I'm feeling all emotional about it.

He says he is looking forward to going so I'm not letting on to him how I'm feeling. I'm just a bit worried because he is not an out doors person and it's all adventure activities they are doing.

He will probably come back on Wednesday and would have had a great time!

Mums! when does the worrying ever stop!

Hi Angela, The worrying never stops.
I felt the same when my Daughter went away with school the first time.
She had a whale of a time, did things I never dreamed she'd dare do....while I worried myself sick.
We just have to let go alittle, but it's not easy.
Anna

AWWWW you poor wee thing xx it's hard aint it, but, I'll bet he'll have a fantastic time whilst he's away, will come home all excited wanting to tell you every last detail, then fall asleep on the sofa from sheer exhaustion with all the excitement, you'll worry, course you will, my eldest is almost 20 and I worry about him every day, he's worse at times than my 8 year old lol.

Awwwwwwwwwww ............ it's hard letting go isn't it ............... I remember crying buckets when my youngest (who's now 24!) went on holiday with his grandparents when he was about 9 too!

I'm sure he (and you) will be fine though ..... and the reunion when he comes back will be worth the separation I'm sure!

Thanks everyone. I'm trying my hardest to distract myself from it but it's all I can think about!!

When I was his age I went to America for 8 weeks with my brother who was 5, we flew all the way on our own and was met at the other end by our grand parents. Goodness knows how my mum and dad felt!!

3 days does'nt seem that bad now!!
