Hi Valerie. Hope ypou are now doing as advised and looking after youself! These messages you have received should be taken seriously - it is all really good advice.
Just to make you smile, (I hope), Norma had to got to the Norwich Hospital and was taken there by a volunteer driver. He was telling us that the day before he had taken a woman and her mother to the hospital. Apparently the younger one had a cancer scare and they had to gone to see the specialist for results of tests. The Specialist said, with a beaming smile, " Fantastic news you have nothing to worry about, you are clear. You will probably live to a hundred and twenty!" The daughter, of course, was really pleased and full of smiles, but the mother looked a bit crestfallen. The specialist asked why she wasn't rejoicing and she replied, "But what am I going to do with a hundred and twenty year old daughter"?
This is a true story!

Gosh Valerie....you actually are lucky that you had a warning.....many dont get anything that they walk away from so now you know you have to take care of yourself.

Is there any home help or anything that can help out with your Mum. So they do the work......you just go visit...or something like that. We have Meals on Wheels here where for a small fee they'll bring 3 meals daily, or they might bring a couple of days at a time. And theres Home Help where people will come and clean the house etc. Do you have those things there?

Take things easy and enjoy your Christmas, but if you need to go without the trimmings then just sit back and enjoy being with loved ones around you. We've had sandwiches for Christmas on a few occassions due to different things......its not all about decorations and fancy food....its being with ones you love. So take it easy and make sure you are here to do that.

thank you so much for your kind words of support, much appreciated.

My sister lives a couple of hours away so doesn't get here very often - draw your own conclusions.... but they came on monday and took me to see mum for a few minutes. She was pleased to see me as she was only getting information from others, and I don't think she believed them when they said I was alright but tired. She seems more settled now. She has now decided that the carers can do a bit more for her to save me having to go round so much... simple things like closing her curtains... I suggested that months ago but she wouldn't have it... My OH has walked round once each day and that has worked out ok.

As for me, I am ok, still tired and shocked. I AM doing as I'm told, taking it easy, not eating all the rubbish I had gone back to - I'm diabetic - and taking care. This was a massive wake-up call and I'm grateful to still be around. I will have no difficulty in New Year resolutions this year - making them or keeping them...lol

I'd like to thank you all once again and to wish everyone a lovely Happy, healthy and safe Christmas.

We had our lunch and met some relations so had a lovely chat with our coffee, then off to look round. About 20 mins later I was admiring the decorations when I had a weird sensation - difficult to describe... To cut a long story short I was whizzed off to hospital and it was found that I'd had a heart attack... only a mild one but enough to scare the life out of me. I was kept in until the following evening and sent home with strict instructions to rest and a bagfull of pills. I feel ok now, but very tired.

My 3 children have contacted me from around the globe and each one has read the riot act... so instead of me doing Christmas dinner for everyone, I have been banned from the kitchen... silver lining and all that..lol

So sorry to hear about the heart attack Valerie. I do hope that you are feeling better real soon. Do as you are told and take things easy. Hope you still manage to have a quiet Christmas.

Oh, how scary, Valerie! I do hope you are feeling better. Please do take good care of yourself. You will be able to better take care of others if you keep yourself in good heath. Sending you big hugs and happy holiday wishes!
